Nelson Mandel writes in his autobiography, Long Walk to Freedom, that a good leader “… stays behind the flock, letting the most nimble go out ahead, whereupon the others follow, not realizing that all along they are being directed from behind.” Elsewhere he notes, “You take the front line when there is danger.
